The brief: redesign a coffee-table book.
The original felt like a conventional flower book, with dense text and photographs. For this class project, I redesigned the cover and interior layouts to give the content more breathing room. The main challenge was balancing text with photography, choosing typography that worked alongside the images, and keeping the flower profiles consistent.
An invitation
to look closer.
The title spread opens with a simple pairing of flowers and typography. The introduction then moves into columns, captions and photographs of different scales.
A different pace.
A familiar language.
Oversized chapter numbers, vertical titles and hanging flowers mark a change of section. The pale blue opening adds a distinct color moment within the book.
Read. Pause.
Look a little closer.
One system.
Many expressions.
The flower profiles combine close-up photography with descriptive text and compact growing information. Reversing the image and text positions gives the repeated format variation.
Let the flowers
fill the page.
A full-bleed photographic spread offers a quieter moment between the more detailed reading layouts.

I redesigned the complete coffee-table book as a class project, including the cover and interior layouts.
