Type Experiments
Smoke and type / Final visual direction
01 / The brief

Type as a
starting point.

Explore typographic form through the idea of a dream state, then translate the experiments into three movie posters and a trailer concept for Now You See Me.

02 / The exploration

Make the letters
behave differently.

I tested how type could interact with liquids, paper, bubbles, shadows, projected light, and smoke. After several weeks of experimentation, smoke became the strongest direction: its shifting forms connected the letterforms to the film’s atmosphere of illusion.

03 / The design response

Now you see it.
Now you don’t.

The poster series and motion experiments carry that smoke-and-type relationship across static and moving formats. The project documents the progression from material studies to a focused visual direction.

Experiment.
Develop. Apply.

Educational design concept by Roshni Vasudevan. I created all work shown, including the typographic experiments, photography, posters and trailer. The trailer’s music track is the only externally sourced element. This is a conceptual film campaign, not an official commission.
